I'm so depressed. I hate being in England for Thanksgiving, yet that's where I'll be tomorrow when my American family is huddled around the table, eating the best cranberry sauce known to man. I love my mom's cooking (as stereotypical as that sounds) and I miss it.
And to compound my misery, Hostess is on the block and my beloved HoHos may be no more. Yes, I'm a Tastykake girl at heart, but I do love a HoHo. And throw in a RingDing and I'm all yours. I thought Obama getting reelected was a sign that things were getting better - but November suddenly seems to have taken a turn fo the worse with this soul-destroying news.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone back home who is most likely in a food coma right about now - and to all of us Expats who are looking forward to some wicked Black Friday sales online.

It is hard being away from home when important festivals or event are happening back home. On a slightly different note - I'm a British national - living in the UK and get very irritated when I receive 'Happy Thanksgiving' messages - particularly from the US. It's not my celebration - in fact, if I recall, we lost the war of independence! I got one this morning from a travel company in Peru! Presumably they believe that this is a global festive event.. Anyway do your best to enjoy our country - we have strange things we celebrate like Guy Fawks night so hey..
