I really don't know what to make of Victoria Beckham.  On the one hand, she is a publicity hungry, over the top (in the thinnest way possible, of course) social climber, but on the other, she is a really talented designer.  One thing she could definitely use, however, is a burger. Or three.

ever hear of a proofreader?

I am a bit of a stickler for grammar, I'll admit, but I have never seen such a flagrant abuse of the apostrophe as I have lately.  No one knows how to differentiate between a possessive and a plural, and it's appalling.  For example:

The worst part is, I see this all the time. It boggles the mind.

the hits keep on coming

Just moved into our new place in London - second move in six months, I am officially OVER IT.  Am sitting here enjoying the sound of the torrential downpour outside, and soon realise it's coming from inside.  Yup, the conservatory roof has two leaks. 

Great. 

go to the matinee, it's cheaper

I just saw District 9, and I cannot tell you how totally impressed I am (or can I?). As entertainment, it's terrific, and as a social statement, it's profound. The sign of a good movie is if you are still thinking about it the next day, and I am.  It's sickening to think that much of what the film is based on is real (ok, not the actual alien part, but apartheid) - and the slums aren't set designs, they were already there. 

Go and see this movie - it is incredibly compelling - and let me know what you think.

gasping for air

I couldn't figure out at first what parking rules had to do with kids on the run... and then the lightbulb popped on.  Thought this was a funny San Fran street sign.

We were up on Telegraph Hill, looking at the cool murals in Coit Tower.  This guy's face just has so much to say (perhaps he is thinking about ways to prevent runaway cars). 

San Francisco is really such a gorgeous place, despite the fact that it is not for the unfit (i.e., me). You can spot a tourist a mile away because they are the ones wheezing, doubled over in pain at having to climb the steepest hills ever. These steps up to Coit Tower almost killed me:

The view, however, was worth it.
