British guys may have the accent working for them, but they certainly don't have the hair. More precisely, they don't have the hairstyle. Their hair may be perfectly fine, but it is covered under enough hair wax and/or gel to sink a ship. And these are not 16 year old boys I'm talking about - these are men. Men who should have more sense.
Exhibit A - David Tennant
David Tennant is a very popular actor and the current incarnation of Dr. Who. Who is Dr. Who, you ask? He is an alien, time-travelling cult hero, who proves to us each week that gravity-defying hair is still a big look even in the future. Pity, that.
Exhibit B - Russell Brand
Russell Brand has just started to hit it big in the US, but here he's a well-known comedian whose appearance defies all manner of good taste. Not only does he gel the shit out of his hair, but he follows the Amy Winehouse-style of 'no beehive is too big'. The worst part? He honestly believes he's hot.
You can imagine my shock and horror at seeing an American actor fall victim to the same misguided belief that you can never have too much wax in your hair. Adrian Pasdar appeared on the BAFTA awards last weekend with what looked like a failed static-electricity experiment on his head. Maybe he was just trying to fit in...
